Aloha!
I’m Liz Alani, pointed north & evolving along the way. I am an award-winning author who attended SMU’s Creative Writing program. My personal essays and short stories are published in BUST magazine, Two Hawks Quarterly, Z!NK magazine, ENTROPY, Snake Nation Review, DerbyLife magazine, Script magazine, & more. My poetry is published in ONE ART Journal, Anti-Heroin Chic, & more.
I modeled internationally for over 25 years. In my long-ass modeling career, I’ve shot Amica covers in Milan, swimwear in the Maldives, Vogue spreads in Sydney, London jewelry campaigns, and Revlon ads with the great Richard Avedon.
But that was a far cry from my calling. With writing I inhabit something truer. Something full-throated and innermost.
My time spent as a globetrotting model, advocate, and roller derby girl has warped … er, enriched my worldview. I am an experienced mentor and crisis counselor whose signature brand of motivational humor is laced with compassion and grit.
The beauty of midlife is that I finally have something to say … and can say it (wholeheartedly while cursing). My works in progress are a novel & a collection of poetry.
